Use of Cookies
How we use cookies and similar technologies
Last updated: April 16, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how WorkFirst uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our website and platform. It is intended to comply with the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended) and the GDPR, as well as the Finnish Information Society Code (Tietoyhteiskuntalaki 917/2014) and national guidance on cookies and consent.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, or to provide information to the site owner. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags, which we may also use where relevant.
2. Legal Basis
Under EU and Finnish law:
- Strictly necessary cookies are required for the website to function (e.g. security, load balancing). These do not require your consent under the ePrivacy rules in many EU/EEA implementations.
- Non essential cookies (e.g. analytics, preferences, marketing) require your consent before they are set. We ask for consent where required.
3. Cookies We Use
Strictly necessary
- Session / authentication: to keep you logged in and maintain your session (e.g. Laravel session cookie, CSRF token). Legal basis: necessary for the service.
- Security: to protect against cross site request forgery and support secure use of the site.
- Consent / preferences: to remember your cookie consent and theme (e.g. light/dark) so we do not ask again unnecessarily.
Functional / preference
- Language and locale: to remember your language choice so the site is displayed in your preferred language.
- Theme: to remember light/dark mode (may be stored in local storage).
Analytics (if used)
If we use analytics cookies (e.g. to understand how the site is used), we will do so only with your consent where required by law. Such cookies may collect identifiers and usage data; our Privacy Policy applies to that data.
Marketing (if used)
If we use cookies for advertising or marketing, we will do so only with your prior consent and will describe them in a consent tool or in an updated version of this policy.
4. Duration
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period (e.g. until expiry or until you delete them). We set retention periods in line with the purpose of each cookie and applicable law.
5. Your Choices
- You can block or delete cookies via your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works (e.g. you may not stay logged in).
- Where we use a consent mechanism, you can withdraw consent or change your preferences at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
6. Third Party Cookies
Our site may include content or features from third parties (e.g. Google Sign In, embedded content). Those parties may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies; please refer to their privacy and cookie policies. We only allow non essential third party cookies with your consent where required.
7. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
